Is too much crab meat bad for you? ›

Although it is recommended that regular fish-eaters should avoid eating brown crab meat too often, there is no need to limit the amount of white crab meat that you eat. There are no maximum recommended amounts for other types of shellfish.

Make sure you have enough crab legs

Our general recommendation is between one and two pounds per person. One pound per person should suffice if you have guests with mild appetites and you serving sides with your crab legs.

As a rule of thumb, if you have crab lovers we recommend about 1 1/2 pounds per person. If you have some big eaters you might want to go with 2 pounds per person.

Crab legs usually yield about 1/2 pound of crab meat for each pound of raw crab legs. I would suggest between 1 pound to 1+ 1/2 pounds of raw crab legs for each person.

It's because of the high amount of protein, zinc, and vitamin B12 that's abundant in the crustacean. So when you're able to take in regular amounts of crab, the nutrients of the crab goes to work to help reduce pain and produce erythrocytes to fight off infection.

Research suggests that people who eat seafood, such as crab, at least once per week have a reduced risk of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. This protection may stem from the high levels of omega-3 fatty acids found in seafood products.

The number of crabs in a bushel varies depending on the size of crabs. We sell both full and half bushels in small, medium and large. A small full bushel has 7 dozen, medium full bushel has 6 dozen and a full bushel of large has 5 dozen crabs.

King crab is perhaps the more well-known option of the two with its firm, but very juicy meat with a slightly more coarse structure than the more delicate and fragile snow crab meat. The snow crab holds more sweetness than the king crab, which is a tad more sea salty.
